The Autonomous Laser
IT STARTED AS A VISION

Vision is sometimes defined as the ability to see beyond the obvious. From inception, Autonomous, the creator of LADARVision®, has been dedicated to a distinctively different technology that integrates a guided system where each laser pulse is carefully placed to reshape the cornea of the eye. The built-in tracker will automatically follow any eye movements during your surgery. LADARVision® was born from laser radar technology, which simultaneously transmits and reacts to a signal in real time.
This expertise in the critical areas of eye tracking had its genesis in many years of contract research an development for the Strategic Defense Initiative and the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA). More than $35 million above the original government research has been invested to develop the technology and its application to an excimer laser to correct vision.

CONGRATULATIONS
You have made a decision to explore laser vision correction. Your doctor has acquired LADARVision®, the first approved, tracker-guided, small spot laser system. LADARVision® combines active tracking and small beam corneal shaping, two features previously unavailable in the United States. Before you join the millions of people around the world who now see more clearly through laser vision correction, it is important to understand LADARVision® and how it works to correct vision.

There is only one LADARVision.
LADARVision® represents a new generation in laser vision technology . . . a new way to approach laser vision correction with confidence. Confidence that LADARVision® will enhance your entire laser vision correction experience before, during, and after the procedure. Confidence that the LADARVision® eye tracker and small spot laser beam combine for the potential to achieve high quality visual outcomes and minimal post-surgical side effects. As you explore the possibilities of seeing your world more naturally, remember, there is only one LADARVision®. The integration of the eye tracker and the small spot is the LADARVision® difference.

LADARVision
The laser vision Technology you have been waiting for! When it comes to improving your vision, you have several options that range form reshaping the cornea through laser surgery to eyeglasses or contact lenses. If you desire to see the World around you more naturally without dependence on lenses, laser vision correction is an alternative that was proven successful for many people. Because there are a number of different refractive surgical techniques, only your eye doctor can help you determine which procedure is right for you.

With the LADARVision® Eye Tracker, You Can Relax.
The LADARVision® system tracks all eye movements during surgery. A very small laser beam is used to shape the cornea. The precision shaping of the cornea depends upon accurate placement of the laser beam. Even when you are unaware your eyes are constantly making fine movements, many of which are beyond your control. By measuring and correcting all eye movements during surgery, the LADARVision® system maintains accurate placement of the laser beam. Your surgeon also carefully monitors your eye on the computer screen which provides additional control.

Small Spot Shaping
In laser vision correction, big is not necessarily better. LADARVision® uses a small spot beam of less than 1 mm, which is moved rapidly across the cornea in a computer-controlled pattern of tiny, non-sequential, overlapping spots. The amount of corneal tissue that is removed is often less than the size of a single human hair. This helps to produce a smooth, post-operative, corneal surface, which may help to reduce post-surgical side effects for quick visual recovery.
